Are you a Licensed Acupuncturist? Why you Need it in New York?



To practice acupuncture within New York State requires licensure as an acupuncturist otherwise you may be exempted under the law. It opens the door for endless opportunities. The increasing demand for this practice has resulted in increased job and career opportunities for aspiring candidates. But if you do not have the appropriate license you won’t be able to practice as an acupuncturist in New York.

You need several things to achieve it:
  • File an application with the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
  • Proof of completion of formal study program in accordance with commissioner’s regulation.
  • You should also have experience required in order to get license in NY region.
  • You should be at least 21 years of age to get acupuncture license.
  • Pass an examination satisfactory to the New York State Board and in accordance with the commissioner's regulations.

  • Holding the current Red Cross certification in CPR and First Aid is essential too, to apply for license.
  • You should have earned at least nine college credits in the field of biosciences.
